Project Title: Tiggers last Hoorah

Problem Definition

The Bengal Tiger, whether it is Tony, Tigger, or even Sherkhan, they all have something in common. Bengal tigers are an endangered species. There are many different dangers that tigers face such as being hunted by man for its fur. The goal of our project to calculate using statistics how long it will be before the Bengal Tiger is extinct. The project will also determine what an effective solution would be to try to prevent this from happening. The project is going to use net logo in order to model and simulate the extinction of the Bengal tiger. The model will simulate all of the dangers the Bengal tiger faces in order to get an accurate result.

Problem Solution
The environments in which the tigers will be simulated will be an ideal environment and a regular environment. The program will show how the tiger will do in a perfect environment with enough food and places to roam. The other environment will be their current environment in which they are living in right now. Net Logo will be used to simulate the tiger’s growth and decrease. How they eat in an ideal environment and how they eat in their regular environment. The simulation will then compare how much room and how many things that are hunting the tiger in both environments. From these simulations and data an educated guess will be conducted to when.

Progress to Date
Presently, research has been done about the tiger’s environment and how they live. The research has shown their eating, living, and interaction habits. Two simulations are going to be constructed, looking at the tiger’s regular environment. This will show how the tiger is currently living and interacting. Then an ideal environment will be simulated showing how the tiger would live with room to roam and enough food to eat. Through these simulations a hypothesis will be put together about when the Bengal tiger will go extinct.

Expected Results
After gathering data, processing the data, programming, testing, refining, and finally complete a program. This program is built to help discover when a certain species will go extinct. In the end we should have a result as to how many years the Bengal tiger has left to live. The person running the program inputs how much food, land, poachers, and prey they have and how much are left of the species and it will show when it will finally go extinct. The end result will vary due to the types of species used and the number of resources input into the program.
