Project title: Nuerology and Epilepsy
Definition of problem:
A lot of people today do not understand how one nerve can cause such a huge problem. As we all know everyone has a different way of learning. Personally I learn better when I can see it on a screen and interact. Modern day scientists have discovered that a surgery done before the age of 10 years old can trigger the brain to rewire itself and not do damage at all.
The goal of this project is to show an example to patients and people who do not comprehend the disorder called epilepsy. I will create a model that will show the brain does during a seizure, what it’s like when the neuron is only isolated, what a normal brain is like, and what it happens after the neuron is removed.
The disorder we call epilepsy is a serious condition but people are afraid of it because they don’t know anything about it. With a better understanding of the disorder people may realize what “we” epileptics go through when a seizure occurs. When some one sees a seizure they are often unsure what to do and panic.
Solution to the problem
I plan on using Python to help create a model. The model will be hands on and show what happens during, what happens when epilepsy is controlled, and what it is like cured before the age of 10. In the program I will create an example of how that one neuron or one type of change how all of the other neuron or characters act. The simulated model will show how the neurons work and what happens during seizure and what happens when it’s cured.
Progress to date:
My partener has curently quit the challenge and will not be taking further part in the project due to lack of participation. rather than quit all together i will continue alone. Presently I have a mentor for the project, done weeks of research, and begun the programming. I will be using the tests of Katelynn rather than give away my own privacy. I currently have enough information to help the programming but will continue gathering further information from doctors and fellow patients.
Expected results:
My main goal is to create a model and help others understand epilepsy. Rather than run from its victims try to help them during and after. Another goal is to try to prevent and find other cures for the disorder.Even if this project is not noticed i will try to make a difference for other patients.
